Faunatopia: Glacier Realm™

Players: 2-6

Playtime : 45-60 Mins

Age: 13+

Objective:

  • Obtain the Alpha Walrus card and defeat opponents one by one using Alpha Walrus as your only creature.
  • To get the Alpha Walrus card, collect all 4 pieces of the Alpha Walrus gear and sacrifice them to summon the Alpha Walrus, initiating the final showdown.

The field: This is the setup for the field. You will have 2 rows. The top row is for creatures. The bottom row (row closest to you) will be for Alpha Walrus Gear. See below for Field.

Setup:

  • Place the Alpha Walrus card in the center.
  • Remove diplomacy cards, distribute one to each player.
  • Divide the deck into Creatures and non-creatures, shuffle each deck, and deal 3 cards of each deck to every player.
  • Shuffle diplomacy, creature, and non-creature cards into one deck.
  • Hand limit: Min 5/Max 7 cards.
  • No battles in the first 2 rounds.

Discarding Cards:

  • Once per turn, you can discard a card to draw another.
  • This can’t be combined with other card draw abilities.
  • Depending on the creature’s level:
    • Discard a level 1-5 creature to draw 1 card.
    • Discard a level 6-8 creature to draw 2 cards.
    • Discard a level 9 creature and above to draw 3 cards.

There are 4 phases to each player.

Draw Phase: Draw 1 Card.

Play Phase:

  • Place up to 2 cards on your field (Creatures, Equipment, or Alpha Walrus Gear).
  • No limit on other types of play cards.

Battle Phase: (Optional)

  • Pick an opponent to battle.
  • Declare if you’re attacking for Alpha Walrus gear or a card in your opponent’s hand.
  • The defending opponent chooses creatures to match up for the fight.
  • Use all your creatures in the battle. This is a win/loss where the highest creature wins the battle.
  • Creatures that lose the battle are discarded.
  • If the attacking opponent has an unmatched creature, they win the battle.
  • Also, winning by destroying all four creatures is optional.
  • Battle cards only work during a battle.
  • In case of ties, the defending opponent wins.

Recover Phase:

  • Play cards as needed, but no new cards to the field.
  • If over the card limit, discard down to 7, keeping at least 5 cards.
  • If Alpha Walrus gear is discarded, shuffle it back into the deck.

Equipment:

  • Attached to a creature until it dies or is discarded, unless a card states otherwise.
  • Max 2 pieces of armor unless specified by a card.
Exhaustion from Battle:
  • Winning a battle causes exhaustion. Players are allowed up to 3 exhaustion points.
  • When a player reaches 3 exhaustion points they must roll a dice.
  • Dice roll odd numbers mean the players highest creature is discarded.
  • Dice roll even numbers mean the players two highest creatures are discarded.
  • Each round that the player does not choose to battle will remove 1 exhaustion point.
  • If a player reaches 3 exhaustion points then they may not battle until all exhaustion points have been removed.

Creatures on the field:

  • Max 4 creatures at a time; discard to make room, but discard attached Equipment unless specified by a card.

The Final Showdown:

  • Place all 4 pieces of Alpha Walrus gear on the field to sacrifice them with your creatures for the Alpha Walrus card and enter the final showdown.
  • In the Final Showdown, the Summoner fights opponents one by one using only Alpha Walrus. No equipment allowed. Use battle cards; resolve ties with a D6.

Win: Defeat all opponents in the Final Showdown to win the game.

Lose: If the Summoner loses, they are removed. Alpha Walrus gear is reshuffled, creatures discarded. Game continues with remaining opponents.

Clarifications:

Goamph cards: Goamph cards (A card that cancels an action) can Goamph a creature  summon (Creature being placed on the field), as well as armor placement. They are considered actions and Goamph prevents an action. A battle is considered an action and therefore can be Goamphed.

Lucky Flipper: This card affects the draw phase of a player and as such it is not considered combined when discarding cards.

Walrus Battle: If a walrus lvl 6 battles any walrus, except Alpha Walrus, a mini showdown occurs. A mini showdown means that walruses are automatically paired up to each other. Both players in the battle must roll a D6. The highest wins the battle between the two walruses. The lvl 8 Walrus gets to roll 2 D6’s and take the highest score.
